Art PORTFOLIO

I Create Art to Include People Like Myself

I have always loved fantasy stories and games such as Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, and Pokémon. Often series like these hardly catered to people of color, especially those with darker skin complexions. People of color have fantasies of their own. We want to be the hero, we want to be the mage, we can be innocent and powerful. I make art because people like me deserve a fantasy of our own.

Geo and Aria, The Protagonists of a creature capture game set in Chicago!
Geo's name refers to Chicago's nickname as the "Mud City" and his design is more bottom-heavy.
Aria's name references Chicago's nickname "the Windy City" with a top-heavy design and layered!
Geo and Aria but in their Idol forms. They represent the colors of the sky.
Idols player will challenge. A Jazz singer, bartender, and Rapper representing Chicago's history.
Creatures that beginner players will have access to. They represent Chicago's fauna and inventions.
A baseball-themed idol representing Chicago's rich baseball culture.
A basketball-themed idol representing Chicago's heated love for the Bulls.
Pixel art of Geo
A creature inspired by my favorite dessert, rootbeer floats!
A fowl line that uses trash they collect for various purposes, like tools and fashion.
A creature based on an armadillo, Suited with the armor of a knight's helmet and tassel.
A creature based on an opossum, when it falls asleep it essentially astral projects!
A creature inspired by Illinois' #1 vegetation corn!
Day's current design as of June 2023, the design reverting back to an islander but more stylish.
A fellow companion of Day to further shows the island's fashion sense.
A suit of armor one would see within the game. They are fueled by the fires of imagination.
A more rendered look at Day, rpg protagonist rarely uses natural hairstyles. I want to change that.

Day Character Design Time-lapse 2022

I always loved games like kingdom hearts and final fantasy, especially the character designs. I always wondered however why don't any of the characters look like me or even try? So Day was born from my idea to create a fantasy game that involved people with different hair textures to give us a chance at our own fantasy.

Design Process Timlapse

Day's design changed dramatically over the few years I have had him. From wearing a big overcoat sporting braids to being an island child without any real reason for his appearance. Eventually, as my story for the game developed, he would soon be done with clothing that catered to his story and the world of "Living Light."
